I love newborns. I do not intend on having anymore babies of my own, so snuggling, comforting, swaddling and photographing them really makes me happy. I love taking a little bit of a different approach when I photograph newborns. I do not use a baby bean bag poser and lights, it really just isn’t my thing. I don’t bring along an assistant, I enjoy having parents get involved in the session as well. I love soft newborn images such as baby swaddled up in a basket. Or images of the newborn in his or her nursery. Lifestyle images of family and siblings interacting in the photos are what I also love. When I say “lifestyle” I mean just that, in the comfort of the newborn’s life. I try not to over-pose and over edit my newborn sessions. I am all about the natural.
Isla (pronounced EYE-la), 14 days new here is the sweetest little girl. I absolutely loved her newborn photo session and snuggling with her was the best. She was super inquisitive at only 14 days new and really wanted to stay awake for most of her session, although her momma did a great job at nursing her back to sleep for a few quick “sleepy” photos. She has an amazing BIG brother, Cash who just adores her. I just know these two are going to be the best of friends one day.
Are you expecting a baby soon? The best time to book your newborn photo session is when are you are still pregnant. Please contact Melissa at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at (949) 355-3060 to book your newborn photo session. Newborns are best photographed between 5-10 days new (they’re usually the most sleepy/curly at this stage in life).
